Blue Shell

In 2005 Mascato S.A. and Bantry Bay Seafoods commenced a project to develop a partnership of shared skills and knowledge.  The result was the creation of Blue Shell S.A.  Blue Shell S.A. is a fully integrated mussel company operating from a newly built facility in Dalcahue, Chiloe Island, off the coast of Chile in South America.  Blue Shell is the processing element of the business and its supply of the finest mussels comes from Cultivos Azules which has extensive farming operations on a number of sites in the clean Andean sheltered waters around the island of Chiloe.  This operation is new but those involved in the day-to-day management have a depth and wealth of experience from growing and processing mussels in Chile for many years.  Combined with the knowledge of Bantry Bay Seafoods this new mussel group will become a significant part of the mussel business throughout the world whilst at the same time operating on the same core values of respect for the environment, value in people who work for the group, and a dedication to our customers' requirements.

An example of our confidence in the business is that in a short period of time our farm in Chile is now the largest single mussel farm in South America.
